This is the first photo-ethnography publication of a series on vanishing traditional practices.

This book is dedicated to the preservation of Thanaka, a traditional Burmese cosmetic paste applied to the skin. In this book, you will learn about the local uses and  perceptions of Thanaka.

We hope this spotlight on Thanaka will encourage our community to reflect on the role of cosmetics and necessity to protect cultural beauty norms and customs.
